Research shows that more and more consumers are looking for beverages that offer function with refreshment. It seems as though the readers of Beverage Industry feel the same way.

In the Readers’ Choice: New Product of the Month poll for September, Sunshine Sparkling Energy Water won the monthly poll with 31 percent of the vote.

The Sparkling Energy Waters are available in three flavors, Citrus Lime, Pomegranate Acai and Lotus Pear, and offer vitamins, electrolytes and 70 mg natural caffeine, the company says. One can of Sunshine Sparkling Energy Water contains 100 percent of the recommended daily value for vitamins A through E, including B12, B6, B5 and B3, it adds. The energy waters are available in 12-ounce cans in a limited quantity through the company’s website. A nationwide rollout is scheduled for 2020.

Coming in second in the poll was Uncle Nearest 1884 Premium Small Batch Whiskey, which received 24 percent of the vote. The seven-year-old minimum whiskey is lighter-bodied allowing it to be sipped by those who prefer a lower-proof spirit, the company says.

Rounding out the Top 3 was Old Soul Bourbon, which came away with 10 percent of the vote. Cathead Distillery’s Old Soul offers a balanced mouthfeel with notes of rose and dried cherry, followed by toffee and baking spices, the company says.
