The Jack Daniel Distillery will honor the 161st birthday of its founder Jack Daniel through seven Guinness World Record attempts Sept. 1 from noon to 2 p.m. in New York City. The number is a play off of the whiskey’s “Old No. 7” moniker, the Brown-Forman-owned brand says.
Jack Daniel’s will attempt to break the Guinness World Records for the following events: most contributions to a greeting card, largest glass bottle mosaic, largest bottle of whiskey, largest gathering of people born in the same month, most bottles played by a bottle orchestra, most people blowing out candles simultaneously and fastest time to build a pyramid out of 20 shot glasses.
For the most contributions to a greeting card, Jack Daniel’s fans can relay birthday greetings to Jack on the brand’s Facebook page, which will be combined with event attendees’ greetings on a giant birthday card displayed at the event at South Street Seaport in New York City.
The attempt to break the record for the largest glass bottle mosaic will be a two-dimensional mosaic portrait of Jack Daniel made by artist Herb Williams from 2,016 bottles of Jack Daniel’s.
Containing more than 180 liters of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, the world’s largest bottle of whiskey must have a greater height and circumference than that of the existing record holder, the company says.
For the gathering of the greatest number of individuals who share the same birth month in a single venue, Jack Daniel’s is hoping those born in the month of September will congregate with others who have September birthdays for a minimum of five minutes to become a part of history, the company says.
More than 470 bottles of Jack Daniel’s will be used for a rendition of “Happy Birthday” in an attempt to break the world record for greatest number of bottles used to play a single tune on glass bottles at the same time at a single venue.
Also in honor of a common birthday tradition, Jack Daniel’s will provide 250 lit candles for attendees to blow out in unison in honor of Jack Daniel and fellow September birthdays, the company says.
Finally, the whiskey brand welcomes Jack Daniel’s fans willing to show their skill and speed to build a pyramid made out of 20 Jack Daniel’s shot glasses in 30 seconds or less. The record is measured to the nearest 100thof a second.
Guinness World Records Official Adjudicator Kimberly Patrick will attend the event to validate the achievements.
