For consumers, beverages need to provide more than hydration and refreshment. One category that highlights this is value-added water.

As one of the largest independent Pepsi-Cola and Canada Dry bottlers in the United States, Pennsauken, N.J.-based The Honickman Group, not only is making a difference in the territories it serves on the East Coast — New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. — but also in the broader beverage community.

Comprising 46 percent of the retail share, traditional supermarkets remain the largest channel in the retail food industry; however, Jon Hauptman, senior director of retail at Long Grove, Ill.-based Willard Bishop Co., an Inmar analytics company, notes that dollar sales in the channel have been flat as more consumers shop at supercenters, fresh-format stores, dollar stores and online.

Adding a new line to its portfolio, Bulletproof 360 Inc. introduced FATwater. 

Los Angeles-based Bulletproof, makers of Bulletproof Coffee and other performance enhancing and nutrition products, announced the release of its newest fat-enhanced beverage: FATwater.

The National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) hosted its 2016 NACS tradeshow Oct. 19-21 at Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center. With a tradeshow floor encompassing approximately 410,000 square feet, the event featured more than 1,200 exhibiting companies showcasing thousands of new products.

Innovative beverage ideas can come from many places. For Steve Fortuna, the idea for a beverage brand might have been whimsical, but his approach to bringing the idea to fruition certainly was not. Instead, the computer engineer and Wall Street financier has taken a carefully considered, highly strategic approach to every aspect of the process, from product development to market expansion, when founding Blossom Water LLC, Westwood, Mass.

As a part of its collaboration with DreamWorks Animation and the film “Trolls,” Sparkling Ice launched the UnconTROLLable Flavor campaign, which featured a variety of elements, including custom coloring cans. Through the end of the month, Sparkling Ice is offering a series of “Trolls” fridge packs that include limited-edition coloring cans, which enable consumers to directly color on the packaging, the company says.

With my college roommates getting married next year, I have made it my bridesmaids’ duty to help the bride-to-be get in shape before her big day. We’ve been using our FitBit app to help each other stay motivated and exercise, but cutting back on calories consumed also has been an important part of my personal goal. However, this has been more challenging than I anticipated, as I often desire a mid-day refreshing kick of energy.
