SKU proliferation has left its mark on the consumer packaged goods (CPG) market. But innovative new products aren’t just for the retail shelves. Foodservice operations also are developing new beverages to entice consumers.
Brisk, an iced tea brand of Purchase, N.Y.-based PepsiCo, and Mishka, a Brooklyn-based lifestyle brand, announced a limited-edition collection of apparel that will be available on MishkaNYC.com/Brisk starting today. The collaboration is part of Brisk's "kinda out there" campaign which highlights quirky artist-created characters that appear on each can of Brisk. These characters were the inspiration for the Brisk X Mishka designs, which fuse the original Brisk can art with the Japanese anime-type stylings of renowned street artist L'Amour Supreme, the company says.
When Steaz launched its first beverage products back in late 2002, the brand of Doylestown, Pa.-based The Healthy Beverage Co. LLC was working to create a healthy beverage alternative.
Coca-Cola subsidiary also revamps Honest Fizz line

Honest Tea, a wholly owned subsidiary of Atlanta-based The Coca-Cola Co., is expanding its zero-calorie beverage offerings this year with three new varieties: two unsweetened, caffeine-free herbal iced teas and a zero-calorie organic soda. All will be for sale in natural food stores and the natural food aisles of mainstream grocers starting in March. In addition to the new product launches, the company is following through on its commitment to convert all varieties of its Honest Fizz line to organic certification, a goal set since the zero-calorie sodas were first introduced in early 2013.
Davidson’s Organics, Sparks, Nev., announced it is expanding its private-label beverage program because of popular demand. The program, which offers custom tea bags, bulk teas and iced teas, now will offer wider capabilities through the company’s investment in new machinery as well as its NSF International certification.

In celebration of National Hot Tea Month, Starbucks Coffee Co. brand Teavana released its newest handcrafted variety: Winterberry Green Tea Blend. Available in all Teavana stores, Winterberry is a blend of green tea infused with hints of strawberry and citrus, the Seattle-based company says.
Cullen Agricultural Holding Corp., Waynesboro, Ga., and Long Island Brand Beverages LLC (LIBB), Hicksville, N.Y., jointly announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement to merge their respective companies.
