For the upcoming holiday season, Heineken, a brand of White Plains, N.Y.-based Heineken USA, is spreading the cheer with a fully integrated program supported by the brand’s There’s More Behind the Star credentials campaign. The campaign, featuring Academy Award-winning actor Benicio del Toro, brings Heineken to life by focusing on the brand’s quality, heritage and international footprint, the company says. There’s More Behind the Star represents the brand’s biggest campaign and highest media investment to date in the United States, it adds.
The American folk song “99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall” that counts down from “99 bottles of beer on the wall, 99 bottles of beer, take one down, pass it around, 98 bottles of beer on the wall…” is a popular time-passer during long car rides. But while kids typically sing this ditty, multi-cultural consumers in the United States and around the world are singing the praises and reaching for HEINEKEN USA’s premium lagers and hard ciders like never before.

A subsidiary of Heineken International BV, White Plains-N.Y.-based Heineken USA’s Heineken Premium Lager is pairing up with UEFA Champions League (UCL) and Major League Soccer (MLS) beginning March 1 for Heineken’s fully integrated, 360-degree retail and on-premise Soccer is Here program. The program encourages legal-drinking-age fans to choose Heineken for all of their soccer viewing activities, the company says. National TV, digital partnerships, social support, account activation and a consumer sweepstakes rewarding shoppers for every minute of every UCL and MLS match, will drive consumer engagement and increase consideration and sales of Heineken throughout the program, it adds.

Today, New York-based Heineken USA announced a new partnership with experiential marketing platform, Gratafy, to give complimentary beers to consumers 21 and older in select markets via Facebook and Twitter. The campaign aims to connect fans in social settings through social media in Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco and Houston by offering a free Heineken, Heineken Light or Dos Equis at restaurants and bars partnered with Gratafy.
As beer consumers have been looking to trade up and explore new flavors, the imported beer segment has been enjoying growth. In fact, the imported beer segment grew about 8.4 percent in dollar sales in the 52 weeks ending Dec. 28, 2014, in channels measured by Chicago-based Information Resources Inc.
