Zevia, Los Angeles, introduced its next generation product line, sweetened entirely with the stevia plant.
All 14 flavors of Zevia Soda, four flavors of Zevia Sparkling Water, three flavors of Zevia Energy, two flavors of Zevia Celebrations and Zevia Tonic Water will be singularly sweetened by a blend of steviol glycosides, the sweetening compounds contained in the stevia leaf. Zevia's new Non-GMO Project Verified stevia blend features a more sugar-like taste without the aftertaste that some consumers perceive from stevia, it says. The former blend included natural sweeteners erythritol and monk fruit.
"Zero calories, great taste and simple, plant-based ingredients are what Zevia is all about, and this big step towards simple is a major milestone for the beverage category," said Zevia Chief Executive Officer Paddy Spence in a statement. "We are proving every day that you can have all the bubbles, sweetness and flavor we grew up loving in soda, without the empty calories, artificial ingredients and harsh chemicals."
Zevia became a Non-GMO Project Verified brand in July 2015 and remains committed to continuous improvement and innovation.
The new Zevia soda formulas will begin appearing on retail shelves across the United States and Canada this fall.
