Kemin Food Technologies expanded its natural clean-label line with the release of a Kemin Fortra natural plant extract line, which provides triple-duty beverage protection by adding milkfat, flavor and color, while also preventing oxidation and degradation, the company says. Derived from spearmint (Mentha spicata L.), the plant is widely recognized for its flavoring attributes, and Kemin’s proprietary spearmint variety contains high levels of rosmarinic acid, a unique phenolic compound that is an oxygen- and heat-stable, it adds. Extracted using an environmentally friendly extraction process, the water-soluble product is available in liquid and dry formulas, is sustainably grown, easy to dose in beverages and provides improved flavor, it adds.
