Zico Beverages LLC, a division of Atlanta-based The Coca-Cola Co., announced the arrival of Zico Natural Premium Organic Coconut Water.
Certified organic by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Organic Program, Zico Organic also is certified Fair Trade by Fair Trade Sustainability Alliance (FairTSA) and benefits the local Philippine communities where its coconuts are hand-harvested, the company says. Every package purchased helps support organic farming, fair crop prices, community development projects, and the economic well-being of farmers and producers who help bring ZICO to millions of people around the world, it adds.
“At ZICO, we believe every day is an opportunity to start something good,” said Lorna Peters, Zico chief marketing officer for Zico, in a statement. “Our new Organic Fair Trade coconut water is just one step we’re taking as a company to offer more choices for people to consume consciously.”
With 80 calories in each 16.9-ounce serving, Zico Organic has no artificial flavors and no preservatives. At launch, ZICO Organic will be available in Tetra Pak paper cartons with a suggested retail price of $3.49. It will launch in select regions, including New York, with national U.S. rollout throughout the summer.
