Montgomery Coca-Cola Bottling Co., a division of Birmingham, Ala.-based Coca-Cola Bottling United, announced a $35 million investment in the Montgomery, Ala., area that will improve distribution, create jobs and help the local community.
The company purchased an 850,000-square-foot facility in Montgomery and opened it for operation Nov. 22, which immediately added 37 jobs to the local economy. Construction at the facility is ongoing and is expected to be completed by May 2015.
“We are now retrofitting it for a distribution center with logistics we have that are necessary to distribute almost 12 million cases annually,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Claude Nielsen in a statement.
It is reported by local WSFA channel 12 news that the facility will have more than 100 trucks leaving the facility each day to distribute product in the region. Coca-Cola Bottling Co. United is the third largest Coca-Cola bottling company in the United States.
