As a result of Daylight Saving Time taking place Sunday, March 9, Pernod Ricard USA’s Kahlua coffee liqueur inaugurated a new holiday — National Cocktail Your Coffee Day — on Monday, March 10. The holiday also capitalizes on the fact that Mondays generally are challenging for many consumers, thereby enabling them to “cocktail” their coffee in the afternoon or evening, it says.
"The induction of National Cocktail Your Coffee Day is our stake in the ground for those fans who love coffee and cocktails so much," said Michelle Sanders, brand director for liqueurs at Purchase, N.Y.-based Pernod Ricard USA, in a statement. "Declaring a unique holiday like this for our consumers who love both beverages so much is a direct reflection of our brand's playful personality. We hope to inspire afternoon and evening coffee breaks to be that much more delicious today."
Kahlua is made with sugarcane rum and 100 percent Arabica coffee from Veracruz, Mexico. The portfolio includes Original, Cinnamon Spice, French Vanilla, Mocha and Hazelnut flavors with a suggested retail price of $16.99 for a 750-ml bottle.
Kahlua's first-ever National Cocktail Your Coffee Day will be supported via the brand's social media channels where cocktail recipes and product information will be shared using the official #CocktailYourCoffee hashtag.
