Asheville Distilling Co. introduced Blonde Whiskey made with white corn, heirloom turkey red wheat and Appalachian mountain spring water. Using only the hearts from each batch, the whiskey mellows in honeycomb, charred oak barrels. As a result, the spirit starts off with a gentle spice flavor, then moves into a full and fruity cognac-like mid-sweetness and finishes with flavors of brown sugar and fresh oak, the company says. A 750-ml bottle has a suggested retail price of $44.99.
