Forty-four percent of consumers are visiting convenience (C-stores) stores more often — and half say they are visiting significantly more often than they did just two years ago, according to Chicago-based Datassential, which surveyed 1,000 consumers and 150 operators for its June “C-Store Keynote Report.” While visiting C-stores, these consumers also are buying more prepared food and beverages, the report notes.

Airport City, Israel-based SodaStream International Ltd. announced the arrival of its newest sparkling water maker. Previously unveiled at the International Home & Housewares Show with the name Spirit, the entry-level machine,with the U.S.-specific name of The Fizzi, arrives on American retail shelves this month.
Bai Brands, Princeton, N.J., announced that it has partnered with VH1 Save the Music Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring music programs in America's public schools and raising awareness about the importance of music education. ThroughSept. 30, Bai will donate a portion of proceeds from every bottle and can sold to the foundation, up to a maximum of$150,000.
This fall, as children are heading back to school, the institutions that participate in the federal lunch program will continue to ensure that children and teens will be receiving healthier food, snack and beverage choices, experts note.

Sobe, a brand of Purchase, N.Y.-based PepsiCo Inc., is turning 21 this year and launched the #SOBENotSorry campaign as part of its celebration. The brand also released two new flavors: Midnight Mojito (Blackberry Mojito) and En Fuego (Spicy Limeade).
