The seal, showcasing an upside-down beer bottle with “Independent Craft” reversed out of white, was prominently displayed on signage and marketed during keynote presentations during the record-breaking CBC that attracted nearly 13,000 attendees.
Brewpubs and taprooms have become meccas of innovation within the industry and are lifting tourism traffic and spending as consumers gather to watch a big game, relax with family and friends, and, of course, throw back a few refreshing craft beers.
Charlie Papazian schedules retirement for Jan. 23, 2019

The Boulder, Colo.-based Brewers Association (BA) announced that founder and past president Charlie Papazian will retire from the BA on Jan. 23, 2019, which also marks his 70th birthday and 40 years building the craft brewing community.
It’s hard to believe that only a year ago (April 6, 2016, to be exact) Facebook Founder and Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg announced via a Facebook post that Facebook Live was available to all Facebook users.
In 2016, craft brewers produced 24.6 million barrels and saw a 6 percent rise in volume on a comparable base and a 10 percent increase in retail dollar value. Retail dollar value was estimated at $23.5 billion, representing 21.9 percent market share, the BA says.
At a time when the divisive nature of the United States is receiving much attention, it seems as though we have found a topic that both sides can agree upon: craft beer. In late January, the Craft Beer Modernization and Tax Reform Act was introduced in both chambers of Congress with bipartisan support.

The 34th edition of the Craft Brewers Conference & BrewExpo America (CBC) will return to the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., from April 10-13 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
When it comes to food and beverage pairings, many often think of wine, but as beer sales continue to grow and craft beer gains an even firmer foundation, consumers have gained interest in matching their beers with food.
The craft beer market has a range of different consumers. There are the avid beer consumers who are tapped into the latest styles and trends, but there also are the ones who lean on their friends for suggestions. But no matter which type of consumer an individual is, he or she is not at a loss for some new, unique beers as the segment continues to grow.
Small and independent craft brewers across the country have created a special beer in honor of American Craft Beer Week (ACBW), May 16-22. The campaign, hastag #MakeSmallBeerBig, aims to celebrate the week with the Biggest Small Beer Ever Made, which was made by participating brewers in all 50 states using the same ingredients and recipe, according to Boulder, Colo.-based Brewers Association (BA).
