Victor, N.Y.-based Constellation Brands announced it has reached an agreement with Charles Smith Wines LLC to acquire its fast-growing Washington State wines for approximately $120 million. The transaction, which closed in October, includes five super and ultra-premium wines: Kung Fu Girl Riesling, Velvet Devil Merlot, Boom Booom! Syrah, Eve Chardonnay and Chateau Smith Cabernet Sauvignon.
Healdsburg, Calif.-based Flanagan Wines announced the purchase of the former Everett Ridge Winery in Dry Creek Valley. Last year, the company purchased two Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir vineyards, it says. The most recent investment in a new winery solidifies the company’s ability to meet the growing demand for its wines, it says.

Alexander Brown, a new portfolio of wines from Napa Valley winemaker John Killebrew and Grammy-award winning musician Zac Brown. Highlighting the quality of California's North Coast with a Cabernet Sauvignon and Proprietary Red Blend, Z. Alexander Brown wines unveil a robust style reflective of the land and the potential that can result from a pair of artists with a passion for bringing food, people and a sense of place together through creativity, the company says.
This month, Chappellet released its 2012 Pritchard Hill Cabernet Sauvignon. With the release of this limited-production, collectible, Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Chappellet unveiled new packaging to reflect the quality of this highly acclaimed wine and the Chappellet family’s three generations of history on Pritchard Hill, the company says.
