Founded by former collegiate athlete and beverage branding expert Mo Harruna, Gut Goodness announced the launch of its signature line of prebiotic drinks derived from the fruit and bark pulp of the Baobab Tree.
As Harruna undertook development of a new, health-focused beverage, he considered both the physiology and the consumer buzz around gut health and the potential impact that the right biotic formula could have on the growing marketplace, the company says. As he researched possible solutions, Harruna ultimately thought of the “tree of life”— the Baobab Tree from his native Ghana, it adds.
Baobab is rich in protective antioxidants and filled with polyphenols, micronutrients and other plant compounds that protect cells from damage, manage inflammation and encourage the growth of beneficial gut flora, according to the company. Renowned in Harruna’s homeland as a remedy for digestive issues and for sustaining overall health, Baobab’s proven efficacy as an all-natural prebiotic was backed by nutritional evidence — 12 times the fiber of apples, six times the vitamin C of oranges, six times the antioxidants of pomegranate and twice the calcium of milk, the company says.
Available in four flavors — Blueberry Lemonade, Hibiscus, Mango Green Tea and Watermelon — Gut Goodness currently is available in Southern California and the Atlanta metro market and online direct-to-consumer by visiting the company’s website.
