Amcor unveiled its latest innovation: a 1-liter PET bottle for carbonated soft drink (CSD) use that is made from 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content. The first-of-its-kind stock option will support customers as they strive to meet sustainability commitments and requirements, the company says. Amcor Rigid Packaging (ARP) is adding this bottle to an expanding stock portfolio of responsible packaging made from recycled content. “By offering a wide selection of readily available options, ARP enables brands at every stage of growth to have the opportunity to select packaging that’s truly responsible,” said Krishna Valluripalli, ARP marketing director for beverage, in a statement. “Adding a 1-liter CSD stock portfolio in 100% PCR ensures that brands will benefit from increased speed to market while addressing the increased consumer demand and legislative requirements for post-consumer recycled content.” The company notes that this 1-liter stock option allows brands to address these regulations and the need for more responsible packaging in general. In 2018, Amcor pledged to make all packaging recycled, reusable or compostable by 2025. ARP has currently achieved 95% of this goal, it notes. Last year, the company used more than 375 million pounds of recycled material, which is a packaging industry-leading amount, it says.
