Blue Moon Brewing Co., a division of Molson Coors Beverage Co., is known for its iconic orange wheel garnish. This holiday season, the brewing company is trading the orange wheel in for a line of miniature pies.

Melissa Ben-Ishay, CEO and co-founder of the cupcake company, Baked by Melissa, crafted three premium pie recipes that pair perfectly with members of Blue Moon Brewing Co.’s family of beers. The partnership resulted in Blue Moon Pie Pints, with three miniature pie recipes to go with Blue Moon, Blue Moon LightSky and Moon Haze.

“Whenever I come up with a new cupcake flavor or write a new recipe, I’m focused on getting the perfect bite,” Ben-Ishay said in a statement. “As a longtime fan of Blue Moon, I was thrilled to work alongside their brewmasters to create recipes that complemented some of my favorite beers. These Pie Pints add such fun and festive flair to any holiday table this season.”

Spiced Citrus Pumpkin Pie goes with Blue Moon, a Belgian white Belgian-style wheat ale brewed with Valencia orange peel and coriander. This twist on the classic pumpkin pie incorporates dashes of coriander and orange zest that compliment the zest and subtle sweetness in Blue Moon, the company says.

The mini pie best paired with Blue Moon LightSky, a light wheat beer, is Tropic Sky Pie. The company describes the pie as packed with mango and pineapple custard filling to bring out the flavors in the light wheat beer.

The brewing company’s juicy, hazy beer, Moon Haze, has a bold, tropical flavor with a citrus aroma. This is best matched with the Coconut Citrus Pie, which balances Moon Haze’s hoppiness, while complementing the juicy flavor profile, it says. The pie has a light coconut and orange filling.

“Our ambition is to be the brighter brewing company, so we knew we needed to create something that was both fun and unexpected as well as perfectly paired to the flavors that make our beer special,” said Leah Bowman, associate marketing manager at Molson Coors Beverage Co., in a statement. “As a leader in the mini baked goods space, Melissa Ben-Ishay was the perfect fit to create mini season pie pint recipes that not onlhy pair with each beer, but elevate the table and palate alike.”

Consumers can purchase a limited quantity of Blue Moon Pie Pints three-packs a day online at www.BlueMoonPiePints.com through Nov. 11. The pie pints are baked fresh at the Brooklyn-based Pie Corps bakery, and the recipes are also available online for those who would prefer to bake the pies themselves.
