Benriach, a Scotland-based brand of Brown-Forman Corp., announced the U.S. debut of two expressions that reflect the traditional methods of Scotch whisky-making: Malting Season and Smoke Season. Benriach Malting Season has aromas of almond fudge and orchard apples, with notes of vanilla and pear, and finishes with a nuttiness of slowly kilned malt, the company says. Benriach Smoke Season has aromas of barbecue smoked fruit, with notes of sweet caramel and cinnamon-spiced roasted apple, and finishes with orange peel and hickory, it adds. The two expressions reflect the traditional methods of Scotch whisky-making dating back to the earliest days of the Speyside distillery, the company says. Packaged in 750-ml bottles, Malting Season has a 48.7% ABV and $148.99 suggested retail price, while Smoke Season has a 52.8% ABV and suggested retail price of $71.99. Both products now are available in limited quantities in select markets across the United States.
