ZenWTR Alkaline Water, Los Angeles, announced that professional golfers Phil Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau have joined its roster of athlete investors. The two are supporting the brand's mission to help restore the world's oceans and reduce the amount of plastic polluting coastal environments, specifically through ZenWTR's quest to rescue 50 million pounds of ocean-bound plastic by 2025.
"It's important for us to take action now and support companies that will allow our environment to thrive into the future," said Mickelson, World Golf Hall of Famer and ZenWTR investor, in a statement. "I'm passionate about ZenWTR's dedication to ocean conservation and I'm a huge fan of their amazing water so I couldn't be more excited to announce my support for ZenWTR as an investor."
DeChambeau, ZenWTR investor and “The Scientist” of golf, added that the growing problem of ocean pollution has devastating effects on our environment.
"As someone who loves learning, and specifically science, it's exciting to watch the impact ZenWTR is making through the supply chain they've developed to rescue ocean-bound plastic, which prevents ocean pollution,” DeChambeau said in a statement.
Founded in 2020 by serial beverage entrepreneur Lance Collins, ZenWTR is on a mission to rescue 50 million pounds of ocean-bound plastic by 2025, the company says. In addition, 1% of total company sales goes directly to charities and organizations dedicated to protecting the world's oceans and marine environments as well as recycling education and advocacy.
