Stauber Performance Ingredients Inc. and Hawkins Inc. launched its most recent ingredient collaboration: Pomma+ Nectar. The antioxidant rich, functional ingredient is a solvent-free pomegranate extract that contains the natural profile of authentic pomegranate polyphenols. Derived from whole California pomegranates, Pomma+ Nectar is harnessed using the same nutrients that Mother Nature created into a high concentrated, carrier free powder extract, the companies say. Synergistic with the Pomma+ production process, the companies also created a liquid form of the ingredient, a pomegranate syrup. In a statement, Mike Hess, technical director of Hawkins, said: “For years, we have had success with our Pomma+ extract, and through further development, we identified the unique attributes of the Pomma+ Nectar. Our nectar is a flexible food/beverage ingredient, which is high in polyphenols and tastes great. I am excited to be part of a team always searing for innovative ingredient solutions for our customers.”  The low-calorie, low-sugar flavoring agent has a low glycemic value and blends well with distinctly crisp, tangy and tart flavors, while intensifying the health benefits of pomegranates, the companies say.
