Lytx announced the release of new technology enhancements that puts more power and safety in the hands of drivers. Using proprietary machine vision and artificial intelligence (MV+AI), the enhancements feature in-cab driver alerts and risk capture without recording to respect driver privacy. New capabilities include an “inattentive” trigger, which uses MV+AI to detect when the driver’s attention might be unfocused or the driver might be experiencing fatigue or drowsiness; real-time in-cab alerts for five different risky driving behaviors, i.e., cell phone use, eating and drinking, smoking, not wearing a seatbelt, speeding and inattentiveness; and behavior duration reporting. The reporting uses MV+AI to track and quantify both the duration and percentage of risky driving behavior. To protect a driver’s privacy, the company also offers a new configuration for its DriveCam Event Recorder: Risk Identification Without Recording. Designed for fleets who opt to disable in-cab video recordings, the DriveCam is able to detect patterns of distracted or unwanted driving behaviors inside the cab without recording video of the driver.
