Reuben’s Brew hosted its Homebrew’s Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP)-certified Hop Idol Homebrew Contest, which focused on hop-forward beers. Homebrewers were able to submit as many as five different entries. A $5 entry fee was collected that has been donated to Seattle Children’s Hospital. Judging took place Feb. 8, and the winner of the competition will have the chance to brew their beer recipe with the Reuben’s Brews team at its Seattle brewery. Once brewed, the beer will be released at Reuben’s tasting rooms and distributed throughout the Pacific Northwest on draft and in cans. The winning beer also will be entered into the Pro-Am category at the Great American Beer Festival and Washington Beer Awards (if eligible).
