Madison Chemical Co. Inc. recently introduced MadBrew PBC, a non-caustic, alkaline cleaner for general brewery cleaning applications that includes kettles and lauter tubs. With hard water sequestering properties, the low foam cleaner is safe on stainless-steel alloys and can be used in food and beverage plants as an A1 general cleaning agent on all surfaces, the company says. The cleaner also can be used with steam or mechanical cleaning devices in every department. For best results, use approximately 0.5 to 4 ounces in a gallon with an operating temperature of 100 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit for recirculating operations. Exact dilutions and temperatures are dependent on specific applications, product residue type and soil load, the company says. Before using MadBrew PBC, food products and packaging materials must be removed from the room or carefully protected. After use, all surfaces in the area must thoroughly be rinsed with potable water. Staff are available to assist brewers with the correct concentrations and temperature for their specific sanitation needs, the company says.
