FILTEC launched its empty can inspection (ECI) system. The system inspects and identifies defects in empty aluminum cans before they are filled or seamed, reducing downtime and increasing production line efficiency for brewers and other beverage industry professionals, the company says. The ECI system helps increase quality and safety while mitigating risk and increasing efficiency because only pristine cans will make it through the rigorous screening process, it adds. The machine also is capable of inspecting for flange, inner sidewall and base type defects. The new company system, which takes up less than half a meter on production lines, is easy to integrate into existing production lines and can inspect at speeds as fast as 2,400 cans a minute, the company says.
