DS Smith, Rapak expanded its Autokap 600 series filling machine with the release of a new bag-inbox filler specifically designed to safely handle the filling of wine and spirits. When packaging wine or high-alcohol spirits, vapors could escape during the filling process, potentially creating a fire or explosive hazard, the company says. Designed with electrical components and pneumatic systems housed in air-pressurized cabinets, the Autokap 600 prevents any released vapors from coming into contact with electrical devices. The machine also is equipped with NAMUR sensors that run at a lower voltage below the threshold of sparking, which enables the machine to achieve a C1D1 (Class 1, Division 1) rating, according to the company. A single-head, semi-automatic filling machine, the cost-effective Autokap 600 works with a wide range of fresh and stable liquid products, it adds. The equipment also features quick and simple bag size changes, which are released onto a roller conveyor after filling to be loaded into boxes or crates.
