Timken announced the expansion of its line of mounted bearings with spherical roller bearing solid-block housed units. The bearings can be used on beer pasteurizers and in warming and cooling equipment, the company says. Allowing for easier installation and removal for a multitude of applications, the new double-nut design saves time while eliminating difficult measuring. The spherical roller bearings with double-nut adapters are designed for tough conditions, are easy to install and the mounted units are stronger on the outside and smarter on the inside, it adds. The new TAA Series units come in sizes as long as 15 inches (380 mm) and feature a double-nut, tapered adapter sleeve that simplifies bearing replacements in challenging environments, according to the company. In addition, the company modified its standard adapter sleeve (with front lock nut) to include a mechanical withdrawal nut on the back end that is factory set for nominal shaft sizes and easily can be adjusted in the field to accommodate actual (under/over) shaft size. The front locking nut is tightened until the back nut stops against the face of the inner ring, indicating that proper bearing clearance and mounting force has been achieved. This eliminates the need for difficult and often inaccurate in-process measurements of radial internal clearance, saving time and improving consistency. Regardless of the required seal combination, each unit is assembled to order and shipped in a matter of days, the company says.
