Baltimore-based kombucha brewer Mobtown Fermentation announced a new partnership with Coastal Sunbelt Produce, Laurel, Md., that will double the number of states where they can distribute their Wild Kombucha line, the company says.
A fermented tea flavored with natural fruit juices, Wild Kombucha currently is available in more than 300 locations. The partnership with Coastal Sun Product, which distributes produce and dairy throughout the mid-Atlantic, will give the company the necessary infrasture along with a fleet of refrigerated trucks to expand distribution, it adds.
“Until now, most of our distribution efforts have been done in-house, which has worked well for us, but we’re also restricted by the resources we have available,” said Sid Sharma, Mobtown Fermentation co-owner, in a statement. “Distribution is exclusively what Coastal Sunbelt Produce does, which will let us focus more on things like continuing to expand our product line.”
In business since 2015, Mobtown’s Wild Kombucha line has seen a 200 percent growth since 2015. Sharma belives the new distribution deal will enable the company to increase their growth rate. In addition to adding a new Tart Cherry Ginger flavor to its line in April, Wild Kombucha has been focusing on expanding into new markets, most recently, La Colombe coffee stores in Philadelphia.
