Prinova USA, Carol Stream, Ill., a supplier of high-quality ingredients for the food, beverage, flavor and fragrance industries, announced the promotion of Cyndie Lipka from senior flavorist to master flavorist.
In a statement, Josh Lanagan, research and development director, said: “We’re pleased to recognize Cyndie’s level of technical expertise through this promotion, which is matched only by her dedication to the field of flavor science. Flavor science could be likened to an art form, and in Cyndie, we have a true master artist, creating and designing the flavors that really define our customers’ products.”
Lipka is widely known and recognized with the flavor industry as an expert in her field, the company says. In June, the board of Glen Rock, N.J.-based Women in Flavor & Fragrance Commerce Inc. (WFFC) selected Lipka as “Flavorist of the Year” for 2017, one of its Annual Recognition Award recipients.
Lipka has a long and distinguished career in the food industry that spans more than 30 years and is classically trained as a flavor chemist. In fact, Lipka is one of only 350 globally certified flavorists, it says.
In the past, she has served as the President of the Society of Flavor Chemists. Lipka was the recipient of the O. F. Stambaugh Outstanding Alumni Award from Elizabethtown College, awarded to alumni in recognition of distinguished professional contributions in chemistry or medicine.
Currently, she is on the Board of Directors for the Chemical Sources Association, Neptune, N.J., having served two previous terms as the society’s president. Lipka is also an active monthly contributor to the Perfumer & Flavorist magazine’s section “Organoleptic Characteristics of Flavor Materials,” it adds.
At Prinova, Lipka serves as the lead flavorist working in multiple roles: developing flavors for existing clients, assisting the company with new business proposals and projects, and training and coaching other employees to help prepare them for certification from the Society of Flavor Chemists (SFC), Neptune, N.J. Lipka also has long-standing relationships with the company’s suppliers to ensure Prinova has access to and stays abreast of raw materials as they become available, the company says.
Lipka began her career at The Hershey Co. and has worked for Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co., Sethness Greenleaf Chicago (later Synergy Flavors) and Bell Flavors & Fragrances prior to coming to Prinova USA.
