Amber Beverage Group LTD announced the launch of Rooster Rojo, a 100 percent blue agave tequila. The product is produced and distilled in the heart of Tequila, Mexico, by Fabrica de Tequilas. The tequila is made with agave that is cooked in autoclaves with the help of steam and lasts for 10 hours, the company says. Then, a special yeast is added to the agave juices — a closely guarded secret ingredient of the master distiller. Fermentation lasts as long as 72 hours before distillation, and then the product is double pot distilled in stainless steel pot stills, it says. The water used to blend Rooster Rojo is filtered through Mexican silver, making the drink softer and smoother, it adds. At 40 percent alcohol by volume, Rooster Rojo is available in Blanco, Reposado and Anejo varietals, which have a suggested retail price of $19.99, $21.99 and $24.49, respectively, for a 750-ml bottle nationwide.
