Sonoma Cider announced the addition of a spirit to its portfolio: Apple Brandy, a Calvados-inspired organic brandy that launched May 1 and is the company’s first foray into the craft spirits market, it says. The Apple Brandy combines the juice from five varieties of organic apples that are fermented at the company’s cidery and double-distilled via an alembic copper still at Ally 6 Craft Distillery. It then is aged in American oak barrels. The brandy features notes of cinnamon baked apples, honey and vanilla on the finish, the company says. Available in 375-ml bottles, the 42.5 percent alcohol-by-volume brandy has a suggested retail price of $34.95.
