Angry Orchard, a brand of The Boston Beer Co., announced a new line joining the brand’s portfolio — Orchard’s Edge. The new cider project will feature ciders inspired by unexpected ingredients and aging processes, the company says. The first two new ciders in the new series are: Knotty Pear and The Old Fashioned. Both will be available year-round on shelves beginning in February. Both ciders also are aged on American Oak and feature non-apple fruit-like pears and oranges along with exotic spices like cardamom, it adds. Orchard’s Edge Knotty Pear is a 6.5 percent alcohol-by-volume golden cider leads with ripe apple and baked-pear aromas with hints of cardamom and has notes of citrus and mint that showcase the fresh acidity, lasting tannin and dry finish. Also at 6.5 percent alcohol by volume, Orchard’s Edge The Old Fashioned is a golden cider that has a bright apple flavor with a hint of vanilla. It offers citrus and cherry aromas with an oaky flavor, lasting tannins and full, round mouthfeel, the company says. Orchard’s Edge will be available year-round in six-packs for a suggested retail price of $11.99. Both varieties will also be available on rotating draft in select bars and restaurants beginning spring 2016.
