The Boston Beer Co.’s Angry Orchard brand recently released two new hard ciders: a year-round offering and seasonal variety. Hop’n Mad Apple joins the year-round portfolio as the brand’s first hopped cider. The cider-makers drew inspiration from a traditional craft beer ingredient — hops — to develop a cider that combines subtle floral and tropical fruit notes from Strisselspalt and Galaxy hops with fresh apple flavor from American apples, the company says. The gluten-free hard cider contains 5 percent alcohol by volume and is available in six-packs nationwide for a suggested retail price between $7.99 and $9.99. The brand’s latest seasonal release is Summer Honey, which will be available on store shelves through August. After experimenting with a variety of honeys, the cider-makers selected wildflower because of its subtle honey taste and floral aroma, the company says. Summer Honey is available in four-, six- and 12-packs, as well as variety packs and 16-ounce cans. Six-packs have a suggested retail price of $7.99-$9.99.
