Stone Brewing Co. introduced a seasonal iteration of its year-round Stone Smoked Porter. The new brew features chocolate and citrus flavors. The cocoa flavors come from the dark malts and addition of chocolate from ChocoVivo, which naturally augment the beer’s sweet, robust flavor, the company says. Orange peel is added after fermentation to convey a citrusy aroma and lingering, tangy flavor, it notes. Magnum and Mt. Hood hops provide complex flavors, aromatics and a balanced bitterness that doesn’t overpower the chocolate and citrus qualities of the beer, it adds. Stone Smoked Porter with Chocolate and Orange Peel is available for a limited time in 22-ounce bottles and on draft with an alcohol by volume content of 5.9 percent and 53 International Bittering Units.
