LycoRed Ltd. developed new beta-carotene colorant formulations that deliver high-intensity color. Lyc-O-Beta Intense and BetaCote Intense deliver increased color intensity, which allows for lower colorant usage, the company says. The concentrated liquid products are highly soluble and resistant to fading caused by pasteurization and other stressful processes, it says. It also is non-foaming and avoids clumping issues that are common with some powdered colorant formats, making it ideal for use in ready-to-drink beverages, it adds. Available in both natural and nature-identical sources, the colorants are certified vegetarian, kosher and halal, and free of allergenic ingredients as well as dichloromethane (DCM), a common ingredient found in beta-carotene powder products, it adds.
