Tanduay Distillers Inc. debuted its Tanduay Gold and Silver Asian Rums in the United States this summer. Imported by Midway USA, the rums are produced using Negros Sugarcane, which is a descendent of the original heritage Asian canes dating back to the first millennium B.C., and distilled via a five-column process, the company says. Tanduay Gold is a blend of rums aged up to seven years and presents flavors of vanilla and tropical fruits, and Tanduay Silver is aged for up to five years in charred oak barrels prior to blending and filtering, presenting flavors of coconut with hints of custard, it adds. Both rums contain 40 percent alcohol by volume and have a suggested retail price of $19.99 for a 750-ml bottle.
