The Boston Beer Co. launched a limited-release variety pack featuring six different India Pale Ales (IPAs) that put innovative twists on traditional styles, the company says. Samuel Adams Whitewater IPA, which contains 5.8 percent alcohol by volume and 61 International Bitterness Units (IBUs), fuses the wheat character of white ale with the hop flavor of an American IPA. Samuel Adams Grumpy Monk, which contains 6.5 percent alcohol by volume and 55 IBUs, is a Belgian IPA brewed with six hop varieties. Samuel Adams Latitude 48 IPA, which contains 6 percent alcohol by volume and 60 IBUs, is brewed with a select combination of five different hops from the 48th latitude. Samuel Adams Tasman Red, which contains 7 percent alcohol by volume and 60 IBUs, is a red IPA that combines the character of Topaz and Galaxy hops grown around the Tasmanian Sea with malts and coffee notes. Samuel Adams Dark Depths, which contains 7.6 percent alcohol by volume and 60 IBUs, is a Baltic porter that combines the flavors of dark roasted malts with six varieties of hops. Samuel Adams Third Voyage, which contains 8 percent alcohol by volume and 85 IBUs, is a double IPA that merges hops from the Cascade, Simcoe, Zeus and Summer Saaz growing regions. The 12-pack has a suggested retail price between $16.99 and $19.99.
