Natural Products Expo West, produced by New Hope Natural Media, a division of Penton, showcased a record number of new natural and organic product launches at its 33rd show, which took place March 7-10 in Anaheim, Calif. Also topping previous exhibitor and attendee records, Natural Products Expo West attracted more than 63,000 industry members and 2,428 exhibiting companies, it reported. Of the exhibitors, beverage-makers from established and emerging categories showcased some of the following:
Hydrating drinks
New Zealand-based 1907 Water (1907water.com) highlighted its naturally alkaline water with a pH of 8.0.
Activate Drinks, Los Angeles, (activatedrinks.com) unveiled Activate Alkalized Water + Electrolytes. It also announced its expanded distribution into New York City retailers such as Food Emporium and Fairway.
New York-based All Market Inc. (vitacoco.com) offered samples of its line of Vita Coco coconut waters including its newest flavor, Orange. It also offered attendees a taste of its new Coco Cafe Mocha and Vanilla flavors.
Balance Water Co. LLC, West Orange, N.J., (drinkbalance.com) showcased its line of functional waters, including Travel, Relax, Mind, Refresh and Digest varieties.
Better Health Lab Inc., Hackensack, N.J., (alkazone.com) showcased its Alkazone waters with antioxidants, electrolytes and potassium.
Essentia Water Inc., Bothell, Wash., (essentiawater.com) introduced six-packs of its Essentia super hydrating water.
Seattle-based Golazo Inc. (vivagolazo.com) showcased its sports hydration and sports energy lines.
Hawaiian Springs, Kea’au, Hawaii, (hawaiianspringswater.com) noted that in 2012 it sold 52 percent more cases of its Hawaiian Springs Natural Artesian Water compared with 2011 and expanded distribution into more than 3,500 retail locations in the United States. It also announced plans to switch to recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) bottles later this year.
Herbal Water Inc., Narberth, Pa., (herbalwater.com) highlighted its four-pack of 12-ounce glass bottles of Ayala’s Herbal Water. The sparkling, herb-infused waters are available in Lemongrass Mint Vanilla, Cinnamon Orange Peel, Ginger Lemon Peel and Lavender Mint varieties.
San Francisco-based Hint Inc. (drinkhint.com) highlighted its Hint Fizz sparkling waters in Strawberry Kiwi, Blackberry, Watermelon and Peach flavors.
Australian company Mode Drinks (modedrinks.com) debuted Coco Fresco coconut water in Natural and Strawberry varieties and noted plans to debut Watermelon and Passionfruit varieties soon. The company also announced plans to launch V20, a vitamin-enhanced water with a dosing cap, in Orange, Lemon, Blueberry and Pomegranate flavors.
Nestle Waters North America Inc., Stamford, Conn., (nestle-watersna.com) announced the launch of its Perrier sparkling waters in 8.45-ounce slim cans. It also highlighted its Resource natural spring water with electrolytes.
Purchase, N.Y.-based PepsiCo’s (pepsico.com) O.N.E. Coconut Water displayed its Natural, Pineapple and Mango flavors as well as its newest Pink Guava variety. It also debuted new varieties of Naked Juice drinks: Tomato Kick, Berry Veggie and Protein Zone Banana Chocolate. At a booth nearby, Izze Beverage Co., Boulder, Colo., (izze.com) a wholly owned subsidiary of PepsiCo, offered samples of its 13 different flavors of sparkling juice drinks. The company also showcased its Trop 50 juice drinks and new packaging for its Tazo ready-to-drink (RTD) teas.
New York-based Q Drinks (qdrinks.com) introduced Q sparkling citrus drinks in Grapefruit, Lemon and Orange flavors.
Warren, Mich.-based Sundance Beverage Co. (lacroixwater.com), a subsidiary of National Beverage Corp., announced that its LaCroix sparkling waters brand is expanding into Target stores in Canada. It also plans to focus on building distribution in the northeastern United States, it says.
Taste Nirvana International Inc., Walnut, Calif., (tastenirvana.com) introduced Real Coconut Water with Thai Chile Extract, adding a hint of spice to the coconut water, the company says.
New York-based Wat-aah (wat-aah.com) showcased a special limited-edition bottle and nutrition game just for the show. The “Wat-aah Challenge” bottle featured a “Mission Possible” theme and celebrated the company’s commitment to prevent kids from consuming sugary drinks. The game mirrored this mission using an Apple iPad app in which players could dodge lasers, intercept sugars, crack codes and solve puzzles to keep the Wat-aah boy from drinking soda.
Zico, Hermosa Beach, Calif., (zico.com) showcased its line of chilled coconut waters and four-packs of 8-ounce cartons of Zico Chocolate targeted at kids.
San Francisco-based Zola (drinkzola.com) expanded its line of same-named coconut water and acai juices to include an all-natural Coconut Water with Pulp beverage.
Functionalities
Orlando, Fla.-based All In Beverage LLC (drinkagame.com) debuted it’s A-Game cross-functional beverage at the show. A-Game contains electrolytes, eight essential vitamins, minerals and carbohydrates in order to provide consumers with hydration, energy and nutrition, the company says. Additionally, it announced that Major League Baseball player Johnny Damon will be the brand’s first endorser.
Bare Nutrition LLC, Salinas, Calif., (drinkchiavie.com) offered samples of its Chia/Vie smoothies, which mix ground chia seeds and fruit blends. The line is available in Banapple-Berry, Mango-J and Acerola-Piña varieties.
Drink Chia LLC, Altanoite Springs, Fla., (drinkchianow.com) introduced its Drink Chia beverages to the West Coast market at the show. Available in Strawberry Citrus, Honeysuckle Pear, Mango Tangerine and “B Meyer” Lemon flavors, the 10-ounce drinks are infused with whole organic chia seeds and are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants and B-complex vitamins, the company says.
Los Angeles-based Drink Me Slim (drinkmeslim.com) launched its same-named functional shots designed to suppress the appetite and burn fat without caffeine.
Easy2Live LLC, Huntington Beach, Calif., (easy2live.com) highlighted its line of functional 2-ounce shots: Easy2Focus, Easy2Relax and Easy2Sleep.
Ecosentials LLC, Phoenix, Ariz., (vitaminsqueeze.com) showcased its Vitamin Squeeze Powder Water Enhancers, which are available in Multi-Vitamin and Energy lines. The Multi-Vitamin line includes Strawberry Watermelon, Lemonade, Fruit Punch, Acai Grape Pomegranate and Pink Grapefruit flavors, and the Energy line includes Black Cherry, Blood Orange and Blueberry Pomegranate Acai flavors.
I Am Enlightened Nutrition, Newtown, Pa., (thinkiam.com) debuted its I Am Focused shots featuring a proprietary blend of patented ingredients to promote improved mental focus, mood, alertness and an overall feeling of well-being, the company says. The supplement joins the company’s three other functional shots: I Am Energized, I Am Sleepy and I Am Happy.
LifeStyle Brands International LLC, East Syracuse, N.Y., (uvegourmet.com) sampled its Uvé Apple Pomegranate, Superfruit and Black Cherry Lemonade sparkling weight-loss beverages.
Mamma Chia, Bonsall, Calif., (mammachia.com) introduced Guava Mamma, Grapefruit Ginger and Kiwi Lime flavors to its line of vitality beverages.
Marley Beverage Co., Southfield, Mich., (drinkmarley.com) introduced Marley’s Mellow Mood Lite in a Mango flavor and announced the launch of its Marley’s One Drop in slim cans.
Maverick Brands LLC, Palo Alto, Calif., (cocolibreorganic.com) debuted Coco Libre Coconut Water + Chia drinks in Strawberry Kiwi, Cherry Apple, Raspberry Lemonade and Blackberry Pomegranate flavors. It also showcased its line of Coco Libre Protein drinks with coconut water and electrolytes as well as its Coco Libre Pure Organic Coconut Water and Coco Libre Pure Organic Coconut Water with Pineapple.
St. Louis-based Nawgan Products LLC (nawgan.com) offered samples of its Nawgan Red Berries, Strawberry Kiwi, Mandarin Orange and Lemonade alertness beverages.
Neo North America, Santa Monica, Calif., (poweredbyneo.com) introduced Neo Superenergy drinks at the show. The organic beverages use guarana, green tea and ginseng for energy and also include electrolytes such as potassium and magnesium.
ProClaim Nutrition LLC, Sartell, Minn., (fitproprotein.com) showcased its FitPro all-natural, RTD protein shake made with ultrafiltered milk. FitPro is available in a 17-ounce Plus line designed for athletes and workout enthusiasts as well as an 11-ounce Daily line made for active individuals.
In addition to its stevia sweetener ingredients, Pyure Brands LLC, Naples, Fla., (pyuresweet.com) highlighted its O.E.O. energy shots, which are certified organic, sugar-free and calorie-free.
Brooklyn, N.Y.-based RealBeanz (realbeanz.com) showcased its line of functional Iced Coffee drinks, including Cappuccino, Caramel, Mocha, Vanilla Nut, Diet Cappuccino, Cappuccino with Coconut Water and Dark Roast with Coconut Water varieties.
Runa LLC, Brooklyn, N.Y., (runa.org) launched Runa Clean Energy, an all-natural energy drink containing only guayasa with carbonated water, citric acid and natural flavors. Each can of Runa Clean Energy includes 120 mg of caffeine and 680 mg of antioxidants, the company says.
Los Angeles-based Sneaky Pete’s Beverage Co. (sneakypetesbeverage.com) offered samples of its Mango, Apple, Peach, Raspberry and Grape oat-based beverages.
Zingi Well, San Marino, Calif., (zingiwell.com) highlighted its line of 2.4-ounce Java Turmeric + Curcumin zesty anti-inflammatory antioxidant shots and 8-ounce Java Turmeric drinks in Lemon, Original and Mixed Fruits flavors.
Nutritional juices
San Francisco-based Alo Drink (alodrink.com), a division of SPI West Port, unveiled its new line of Alo Light all-natural, reduced-sugar, reduced-calorie, aloe-vera infused beverages. The Alo Light line contains 50 percent less sugar and 50 percent fewer calories than Alo Drink’s original beverages and is sweetened with cane sugar, erythritol and stevia. It also introduced a new flavor to its Alo Drink line: Alo Comfort.
Bai Brands, Princeton, N.J., (drinkbai.com) showcased its new Bai5 seasonal flavor, Molokai Coconut, which will be available from May through August.
Brands Within Reach LLC, Mamaroneck, N.Y., (bwrgroup.com) debuted its Youthy Forever juice with grape seed extract and resveratrol. It also showcased its AloeGloe, Chamane, Apollinaris, Carpe Diem, Belvoir Organic Elderflower Presse and Volvic brands.
Founded by the growers of Cuties Tangerines, Califia Farms, Pasadena, Calif., (califiafarms.com) showcased its line of Cuties Juices, Cuties fruit smoothies, Califia Farms Pure Iced Coffees and Califia Farms Pure Almondmilks.
Thailand-based Exotic Food Co. Ltd. (naturalcocowater.com) showcased its 8.5-ounce bottle for its Goji Water, Aloe Water and Coco Water lines.
The Fave Juice Co., Middletown, N.J., (favejuice.com) showcased its line of Fave fruit-and-vegetable juices, which offer three full servings of vegetables in every 8 ounces.
Los Angeles-based Gogee Beverage (gogeebeverage.com), a division of Bazic Products, showcased its Gogee shots and Gogee juices. Gogee shots contain goji berry nutrients, B-vitamins, caffeine and antioxidants. The Gogee juice line is made up of the original Goji berries juice, Goji berries and Acai juice, Goji berries and Sea Buckthorn juice, and Goji berries and Soursop juice.
Hansen Beverage Co., Corona, Calif., (hansens.com), a subsidiary of the Monster Beverage Corp., showcased its new 10-calorie Hansen’s Natural Sparkling juice drinks in Orange, Strawberry, Apple, Grape and Raspberry flavors. It also introduced new Grape and Orange flavors to its Hansen’s Natural Cane Soda line. Under its Hubert’s brand, it called out its new Hubert’s Lemonade Blackberry flavor, which is sweetened with stevia and cane sugar.
Atlanta-based In Zone Brands Inc. (inzonebrands.com) debuted its new Tummy Tickler for Tots Organic Apple Juices in single-serve and refill packs.
Los Angeles-based Limonitz (limonitz.com) showcased its Mint Sparkling Lemonade. It also announced plans to release Ginger and Strawberry Lemon flavors soon.
Half Moon Bay, Calif.-based Odwalla (odwalla.com), a subsidiary of The Coca-Cola Co., highlighted its Garden Organics fruit-and-vegetable drinks and its Smoothies for Kids line.
Outernational Brands Inc., Albertson, N.Y., (vivaloebev.com) offered samples of its Vivaloe line of aloe vera- and fruit-infused beverages. The newest flavor in the lineup is Coconut Aloe.
Los Angeles-based Pom Wonderful LLC (pomwonderful.com) highlighted the success of its 8-ounce bottles, which are its fastest-growing SKU, it says. The new packaging format has helped to bring in new consumers, increase household penetration, encourage repeat purchases and get people to trade up, it adds.
Miami-based Raw Foods International LLC (raawfoods.com) offered samples of its three new 100-percent pure juice blends: Strawberry Purple Carrot, Very Berry Wheatgrass and Mango Guarana.
Rob’s Really Good, Sea Cliff, N.Y., (robsreallygood.com) showcased its line of zero-calorie juice drinks with vitamins. The drinks are available in Coconut, Plum, Cucumber, Grapefruit, Tart Cherry and Coconut Pineapple flavors.
Sambazon, San Clemente, Calif., (sambazon.com) introduced two new superfood smoothies: Blended Breakfast Superfood Smoothie and Energy Mocha Java. Blended Breakfast Superfood Smoothie combines strawberries and bananas with chia, amaranth and soy yogurt for a nutritional smoothie packed with fiber, protein and omegas, the company says. Energy Mocha Java features 80 mg of organic caffeine in each bottle and blends yerba mate and Fair Trade coffee with antioxidants from açaí berries, it adds.
Denver-based Sneakz LLC (sneakz.com) introduced Sneakz Organic chocolate milk shakes with a full serving of vegetables in each 8-ounce carton.
Spindrift Beverage Co., Charlestown, Mass., (spindriftfresh.com) showcased its line of sparkling waters made with fresh-squeezed fruit or puree. The line is available in Raspberry Lime, Lemon and Tangerine flavors.
Uncle Matt’s Organic, Clermont, Fla., (unclematts.com) showcased its single-serve 12-ounce bottled juices.
Teas
Macedonia-based Alkaloid AD’s Good Nature brand (goodnaturetea.com) offered samples of its new b. Tea functional teas. The new, certified-organic teas include b. Rested, b. Joyful, b. Lean and b. Whole. Existing teas in the line include b. Energized, b. Beautiful, b. Pure and b. Calm.
Miami-based AMA Waters (amawaters.com) showcased its line of coconut waters plus tea in the following varieties: Coconut Water & Rooibos Tea, Coconut Water & Green Tea, Coconut Water & White Tea, and Coconut Water & Black Tea. All of the extracts used in the line come from the Amazon Rainforest, the company says. Additionally, the company displayed its enhanced waters with 10-percent coconut water.
Chicago-based Argo Tea Inc. (argotea.com) offered samples of its line of RTD teas, including its newest flavor, Hibiscus Tea Squeeze.
Blue Buddha Beverages LLC, Stonington, Tenn., (bluebuddha108.com) showcased its natural, RTD Blue Buddha functional teas. Available in Vitality, Serenity, Wellness and Radiance varieties, all of the teas are caffeine free, flavored with essences of fruits and flowers, and lightly sweetened with organic stevia and organic Fair Trade-certified cane sugar.
Seattle-based Granum Inc. (choiceorganicteas.com) highlighted its new, certified-organic functional wellness teas. The newest varieties include Mental Focus, Breathing Space, Throat Cozy and Easy Digest.
Guayaki, Sebastopol, Calif., (guayaki.com) showcased its Sparkling Yerba Mate drinks, which it says can help stimulate focus and clarity as well as boost physical energy. The drinks are available in cola-flavored Classic Gold, Cranberry Pomegranate and Grapefruit Ginger varieties.
The Hain Celestial Group, Melville, N.Y., (hain-celestial.com) debuted two new Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime tea varieties: Sleepytime Decaf Blackberry Pomegranate Green Tea and Sleepytime Echinacea Complete Care Wellness Tea Herbal Supplement. The brand also launched two additions to its natural shots line: Sleepytime Snooz Natural Sleep Aid herbal supplement shots with valerian and melatonin and Enerji Green Tea Energy Shots with natural caffeine from green tea and green tea extract as well as B vitamins for energy. The company’s BluePrint juices and juice drinks also made their Hain Celestial debut featuring cold-pressed, certified-organic juices and juice drinks using high pressure instead of heat to help maintain naturally occurring minerals, vitamins and enzymes. Additionally, the company introduced new varieties of its non-dairy beverages: Dream Blends Almond, Cashew & Hazelnut drink is available in two flavors and in an 8-ounce single-serve size and new Dream Latte Coffee and Almond drinks are available in Caramel and Mocha flavors in 11-ounce containers.
Ito En Ltd., Brooklyn, N.Y., (itoen.com) debuted Teas’ Tea Latte in Black Tea Latte and Matcha Green Tea Latte varieties. It also showcased redesigned packaging for its Teas’ Tea unsweetened teas and a new Acerola Cherry Green Tea flavor in the Teas’ Tea Half & Half line.
Rooibee Red Tea, Louisville, Ky., (rooibeeredtea.com) unveiled a new brand identity for its organic rooibos red teas. The new look has been applied to labels on the tea’s bottles, social media channels, as well as the brand’s website, which underwent a makeover as part of the updating.
Steaz (steaz.com), a subsidiary of Doylestown, Pa.-based The Healthy Beverage Co., showcased its new packaging, which features hand-drawn illustrations and brings a more cohesive, mature look to the line, the company says. It also announced the launch of its Iced Green Tea with Coconut Water exclusively in Whole Foods Markets.
TEAloe LLC, Aventura, Fla., (tealoe.com) showcased its reformulated and rebranded TEAloe drinks, which are available in Original, Mint, Peach and Passion Fruit varieties.
Natural sodas
Minneapolis-based Boundary Waters Brands (joialife.com) showcased its new Joia reduced-sugar soda flavors: Orange, Jasmine & Nutmeg and Ginger, Apricot & Allspice.
Bethesda, Md.-based Honest Tea (honesttea.com), a subsidiary of The Coca-Cola Co., highlighted its new Honest Fizz line, which comes in Lemon Limey, Orange Pop, Professor Fizz and organic Root Beer flavors. It also showcased its redesigned multi-serve bottles of tea, which are easier to grip and include a new Mango White Tea flavor.
Zevia, Culver City, Calif., (zevia.com) showcased its four-pack of glass bottles in six of its best-selling flavors: Cola, Cherry Cola, Grape, Ginger Root Beer, Ginger Ale and Cream Soda.
Digestive health
GoodBelly, Boulder, Colo., (goodbelly.com) introduced a new flavor and packaging size for its probiotic juice drinks. GoodBelly Carrot Ginger is the company’s first vegetable beverage and is available in Goodbelly’s new gluten-free, family-size quarts. Goodbelly Tropical Orange, Pink Grapefruit and Fermented Probiotic Coconut Water also are available in the quart packaging.
KeVita Inc., Ventura, Calif., (kevita.com) showcased the newest flavors of its sparkling probiotic drinks: KeVita Mojita, which has a Lime Mint Coconut flavor, and KeVita Daily Cleanse, which has a Lemon Cayenne flavor.
Kombucha Wonder Drink, Portland, Ore., (wonderdrink.com) introduced resealable bottle caps for its line of kombucha beverages. The new caps will top the brand’s 14-ounce bottles for all eight varieties: Asian Pear & Ginger, Traditional, Essence of Lemon, Niagara Grape, Cherry Cassis, Essence of Peach, Essence of Juniper Berry, and Essence of Mango.
Mass Probiotics Inc., Quincy, Mass., (goliveprobiotics.com) offered samples of its RTD Go Live Probiotic & Prebiotic drinks, which feature live probiotics inside the cap.
TheBü Kombucha, Ventura, Calif., (thebukombucha.com) a subsidiary of Makana Beverages Inc., announced that its kombucha drinks now carry a proprietary strain of probiotics and contain less sugar. Additionally, the drinks now come in new packaging.
Yakult U.S.A. Inc., Torrance, Calif., (yakultusa.com) highlighted its Yakult Light non-fat probiotic drink with live and active l-casei Shirota.
Zukay Live Foods LLC, Elverson, Pa., (zukay.com) showcased its line of Kvass probiotic-cultured veggie drinks.

CalNaturale Svelte (sveltebrand.com), made by California Natural Products, Lathrop, Calif., introduced its non-dairy, gluten-free protein shakes in 11-ounce cartons for on-the-go consumers. The shakes are available in Chocolate, French Vanilla and Cappuccino flavors.
Kate Farms, Santa Barbara, Calif., (katefarms.com) debuted its line of certified-organic Komplete Ultimate Shakes available in Cocoa Fudge, Vanilla Bliss and Jav’a Latte flavors.
Lifeway Inc., Morton Grove, Ill., (lifeway.net) showcased its Helios Organic Greek nonfat kefir cultured milk smoothies, which are available in Original, Vanilla, Coconut & Honey, Raspberry & Honey, Strawberry & Honey, Pomegranate-Blueberry & Honey, and Pear & Honey varieties. It also introduced Lifeway Organic Probiotic ProBugs Blast lowfat organic kefir in 3.5-ounce containers for kids. The drinks are available in Cherry Lime Supernova, Grape Galaxy, Strawberry Kiwi Comet and Peach Mango Moon flavors.
Pacific Foods of Oregon Inc., Tualatin, Ore., (pacificfoods.com) showcased two unsweetened versions of its all-natural hemp non-dairy beverage.
