Bethesda, Md.-based Honest Tea, an independent operating unit of The Coca-Cola Co., Atlanta, launched a new beverage line called Honest Splash. The 70-calorie juice-based drinks are sweetened only with organic fruit juice and contain between 30 and 31 percent juice, the company says. Honest Splash is available three varieties, Berry Good Lemonade, Goodness Grapeness and Super Fruit Punch, in re-closable, 12-ounce recyclable plastic bottles that are sold individually and in six-bottle packages.
The new beverage line is an evolution of the Honest Kids brand, which accounts for more than one-third of Honest Tea’s total business, it reports. “Honest Splash is a great fit for older kids, or kids on the go, who need the convenience of a larger, re-closable container,” said Honest Tea Co-founder and TeaEO Seth Goldman in a statement. “It still meets the needs of parents who want to provide lower-sugar beverages.”
Honest Splash also meets the American Beverage Association’s School Beverage Guidelines for High Schools, the company says.
Individual Honest Splash bottles are available at select retailers including more than 1,250 Target Cafés. The six-packs will be sold exclusively at Target from mid-March through the end of June for $5.49. The beverages will be available in other retailers starting in July.
