Heineken USA announced the first national launch of its limited-edition Newcastle Winter IPA. Available on retail shelves and on draft in on-premise locations through January 2013, Newcastle Winter IPA features a copper color with a strong hop aroma, subtle caramel notes, a full body and a balanced finish, staying true to the traditional characteristics found in British-style IPAs, the company says. Made with Super Styrian and Styrian Goldings hops, Newcastle Winter IPA has an alcohol by volume of 5.2 percent with 28 International Bittering Units. The beer is available in 12-ounce bottles in six-packs and 12-packs priced comparably to Newcastle Brown Ale.
