Independent company William K Busch Brewing Co., established last summer by William K. Busch, son of August A. “Gussie” Busch Jr., and great-grandson of Adolphus Busch, recently launched two new beers: Kräftig and Kräftig Light. The company has no association with Anheuser-Busch InBev or any of its affiliates. Both brands are all-malt beers brewed from the four primary ingredients used for centuries by master brewers in Germany: pure water, barley malt, hops and yeast. No rice, corn or other added grains are used in the brewing process to reduce costs or alter taste, the company says. Kräftig, which means “powerful” in German, reflects the Busch family’s German heritage and refers to the strength of the company’s commitment and its belief that the brands will become powerful new entries in the American market, it adds. Distribution of the brands began in early November, focusing on the St. Louis Metropolitan area, including surrounding counties in Missouri and Illinois.
