Crispin Cider Co.’s 2012 annual whiskey cask aged hard cider, Stagger Lee, was named after the same-named famous song. The cider is blended three times, using apple wines aged in American rye whiskey barrels. The final blend is 63 percent fermented apple wine and 23 percent Gravenstein fresh-pressed apple juice. According to the company, the hard cider carries flavors of dry, subtly spicy rye whiskey, butterscotch, banana, ripe apple and mild apple-skin tannins. A 12-ounce bottle contains 6.9 percent alcohol by volume and retails for approximately $4.99.
