McDonald’s Corp., Oak Brook, Ill., announced U.S. sales increased 4.4 percent, which the company partially attributed to its McCafe lineup of beverages, including the recently introduced Mango Pineapple Smoothie.
Overall, the restaurant’s global comparable sales grew 5.1 percent for July, with a 5.3 percent increase in Europe and 4 percent expansion in Asia/Pacific, the Middle East and Africa.
“McDonald’s continues to deliver great tasting, high quality food at an outstanding value to a growing number of customers around the world,” said McDonald’s Chief Executive Officer Jim Skinner in a statement. “We’re creating a unique experience that is welcoming our customers into modern restaurants with convenient hours and locations and offering more choice in food and drink options than ever before.”
In addition to the McCafe beverages, McDonald’s attributed U.S. growth to core products, such as Chicken McNuggets and breakfast.
In Europe, performance benefited from restaurant reimaging and was led by the U.K., Russia and Germany.
The company said China led the increases in Asia/Pacific, the Middle East and Africa. The market’s results benefited from daypart value options, conveniences such as delivery and drive-thru, and locally relevant menu items.
