Electric Reach Truck
Jungheinrich Lift Truck Corp., released the ETV C20,
an electric reach truck designed to excel at stacking and retrieval of
merchandise stored at high lift heights and in confined spaces. The rugged
workhorse is ideal both for moving pallets and doing continuous racking on
single- or multiple-shifts. Outdoor and severe-weather use is a possibility
with several optional weatherproof cabin configurations, and the
truck’s super-elastic tires can negotiate both smooth and bumpy floor
surfaces. With its compact dimensions and Reach Mast feature, the ETV C20
can work narrow aisle widths (down to 112.4 inches), and can lift loads up
to 4,400 pounds to heights up to 291.3 inches. Both its mast tilt and
optional fork side-shift features can enhance fork maneuverability while
the vehicle is stacking or accessing loads.

Hygienic meter
Emerson Process Management has extended its selection
of the Micro Motion H-Series line by offering the 15 Ra electro-polished
surface finish on its 2-inch line size hygienic Coriolis meter. This new
addition expands the H-Series line by offering all five line sizes with the
electro-polished finish. Like the rest of the Micro Motion H-Series line,
the Coriolis sensor provides accuracy for mass flow, density and volume
flow measurement, coupled with drainability and use in clean-in-place
applications. With no moving parts to wear out or break down, no intrusive
parts and no special flow or piping requirements, Micro Motion H-Series
meters offer a hygienic metering solution.

Case palletizer
FKI Logistex added a new design and interface options
for its A-780 case palletizer. The new options increase the A-780’s
capacity and its value as a choice for low- to mid-speed palletizing
applications. The A-780 utilizes high-level infeed and right-angle pattern
formation to achieve pattern flexibility. Close-center rollers and a
bi-parting apron also give the A-780 the ability to handle a wide variety
of case and pallet sizes. Its compact footprint is ideal for existing
facilities where space is at a premium. A recirculating row pusher is one
of several new options offered on the A-780. This feature improves case
flow and allows higher palletizing capacities with rates up to 45 case-feet
per minute. It is offered as an alternative to the standard reciprocating
row pusher.

Case packer
A-B-C offers the Model 800 case packer with features
to accommodate shrinkwrapped multi-packs of beverage and juice boxes. This
case packer provides product accumulation, case erecting, packing and
sealing at speeds to 25 cases per minute, and offers many variations in
packing patterns and product feeds while maintaining optimum product
integrity during packing and shipping. It incorporates features for gentle
product handling to eliminate scuffed overwraps or damaged graphics. Each
product load is stacked in a specially designed accumulation section that
is tailored for the product. After accumulation, the entire load is
transferred through collapsible funnel gates that open into the erected
case, for smooth product transfer that maintains package integrity. This
packer is equipped with A-B-C’s standard features to increase line
productivity.

Valve software
Flowserve Corp. launched
the 9.3.0 version of Performance!, the company’s control valve sizing
and selection software. Performance! employs industry-standard ISA sizing
equations, among other measures, to specify Flowserve control valves and
similar competing valve products. Among the new features in version 9.3.0
are additions to the program’s product and options database, as well
as improvements to the software engine to increase its speed and
ease-of-use. Also enhanced in Performance! version 9.3.0 is the
program’s valve noise calculations function. Performance! calculates
noise based on the latest IEC standard. Offering detailed valve
specification information, such as materials, accessories, actuators and
positioners in its database, Performance! provides specifying engineers
with complete valve sizing data, including flow, pressure, cavitation and
documentation requirements. Performance! is built on a Sybase database
engine that allows valve records to be isolated by user and project. It
also includes support for 76 individual valve models and 29 actuator models.

Pallet racking
Metalsistem North America introduced the Superbuild series of heavy-duty pallet racking. Superbuild racking
features bolted, rather than welded, assembly for fast setup and easy
re-configuration to meet the needs of changing operations. Developed for
heavy loads, the Superbuild satisfies all pallet racking and drive-in
requirements. Drive-in systems, through the elimination of feed corridors,
can more than double warehouse storage capacity. Drive-ins come in two
standard configurations, single- and double-entry. Compatible with the
Metalsistem Unibuild modular racking series, Superbuild is available in
three styles with load bearing capacities ranging from 17,000 to 35,000
pounds.

Accumulation system
Hytrol Conveyor Co. Inc. has partnered with Eaton
Cutler-Hammer to create a zero-pressure accumulation system. While
featuring the same EZLogic familiarity, GEN3 incorporates new technologies
for ease of installation, operation and maintenance. EZLogic automatically
adjusts the conveyor’s zone length to accommodate the length of the
carton being conveyed. In singular mode, longer cartons are efficiently
conveyed, providing better control of boxes. This increases carton
throughput, accumulation density, conveyor efficiency and system
flexibility. If desired, zones may be sized for the smallest carton for the
most efficiency.

Blowmolding
Graham Packaging Co. LP developed a new blowmolding
technology that produces lighter weight PET bottles without changing design
or sacrificing performance characteristics. The first product to emerge
from development will be a multi-serve hot-fill bottle. The bottle will be
blown in the same mold used for the current, heavier version of the same
size bottle. This technology eventually will be rolled out to the entire
family of PET hot-fill bottles, and has exactly the same look, height,
diameter and footprint as the current version.

pH sensor maintenance
Mettler-Toledo Ingold introduced a system for fully
automated pH sensor maintenance, the EasyClean 400. Approved for use in
hazardous classified areas, the system finds application throughout the
beverage industry. The premier member of the EasyClean family of automated
pH electrode cleaning and calibration systems offers both pre-programmed
and user-configured programs offering flexibility tailored to application
needs, and also enhanced diagnostics monitor system conditions to ensure
optimal operation and safety. Configuration and control is performed via
the Mettler Toledo advanced M700 transmitter. Profibus digital
communication further expands system integration.

Screw drive unit
The Linear Motion and
Assembly Technologies Group of Bosch Rexroth Corp. has introduced the Ball
Screw Drive Unit AGK to add ball screw precision and speed to extended
length applications. The Ball Screw Drive Unit AGK uses a high-performance
ball screw in a rigid aluminum housing to drive motion at speeds up to 96
meters per minute, even in extreme environments. Specially designed screw
supports and optimized bearing configurations reduce screw whip, allowing
the AGK to achieve speed improvements when used in extended length
applications. Available in ball screw accuracy Classes 5, 7 and 9, and in
sizes 20x, 32x and 40x, the AGK is ideal for high-speed, high-precision
machines where clearance or environmental conditions require a compact,
protected ball screw drive system. The AGK comes as a complete,
ready-to-install unit in lengths up to 6000 mm., with optional integrated
motor mounts for end- or side-mounted motors.

Multiwrapper
The Douglas Contour M-75
Multiwrapper is designed with a large size range and built-in programming
for adding new products to maximize flexibility for existing and future products. Changeovers are completed in minutes with
minimal change parts, and new sizes quickly are added through the
HMI’s intuitive instruction. Features include the Smartrak infeed,
which is designed to eliminate product bridging and gaps that can
compromise pack pattern accuracy and continuous product flow; a
servo-driven wrapping wand for increased film control and accurate film
placement; and management for tunnel heat and airflow, ensuring accuracy in
single- and multiple-lane production. Pinless metering is designed to
gently meter products into appropriate pack patterns. The film feed area
allows for the use of a single width of film when running multiple lane
production, reducing film usage and overall material costs.
