New Pet Packaging
Tradewinds Beverage Co. recently asked Constar
International to help design its first PET package. The goal was to
recapture the look of Tradewinds’ original 22-ounce glass package but
in clear, unbreakable PET. This hot-fillable, 1-liter, portable-package
bridges the gap between take-home and single-serve packages currently on
the market. The company says the long neck design strikes a nostalgic chord
with Tradewinds’ loyal customers. —

Ozone disinfection
The patent-pending Rapid Pipeline Disinfection system
uses mass transfer and degas technology from Mazzei Injector-GDT Corp. and
Floating Plate air-cooled ozone generating technology from Pacific Ozone
Technology. The new ozone system can disinfect a pipeline in one hour,
compared to traditional methods using chlorine that can take up to 24
hours. The trailer-mounted system receives water from a local fire hydrant
using a fire hose. Ozone is produced from pressurized oxygen cylinders by
an air-cooled 180 grams per hour Pacific Ozone Technology ozone generator
and is added to the hydrant water using a packaged pressurized GDT ozone
mass transfer system. — Pacific Ozone
