Beam Global Spirits & Wine Inc., Deerfield, Ill., made donations of 1,000 meals to military families at Fort Hood, Texas; Fort Campbell, Ky.; and Naval Station Great Lakes, located near the city North Chicago in Illinois.
This year Beam Global increased its donation from 500 meals provided last year to more than 1,000 meals. The donation was made in partnership with Operation Homefront, nearly 30 business partners and is part of Beam Global’s Holiday Meals for Military Families charity program.
On Dec. 15, 450 meals were delivered to troops stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. Each family received two reusable grocery bags with food items for a complete holiday meal, and a $20 gift certificate to Wal-Mart to purchase turkey and pie. In addition, country artist Ashley Ray was on hand to entertain the crowd.
More than 550 troops stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky., received meals on Dec. 16. The company initially expected 400 families to attend, and Wal-Mart and Operation Homefront collaborated to provide another 150 packaged meals, the company says. In addition, more than 150 meals were delivered to troops based at the Naval Station Great Lakes near North Chicago, Ill., on Dec. 17.
