A 188,000-square-foot facility in Lexington, Ky., was the first Anheuser-Busch beer distribution facility in the United States to be awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
The Kentucky Eagle Inc. facilitywas built using 22.5 percent recycled material and 35.2 percent regionally manufactured material, the company said. The building’s design will help the company use 32.3 percent less water and about 19 percent less energy, it said.
The building has several sustainable elements, including landscaping that does not use treated water, bicycle racks and nearly a quarter of the project is open vegetated space, the company said.
