New Belgium Brewing has brought back its two winter seasonal beers, 2-degrees Below Belgian-style beer and Frambozen, a Framboise-style beer made with raspberries. The brewery’s 2-degrees Below goes through dry-hopping during fermentation to create a rosy, floral nose with a hint of pepper spice and estery undertones, the company says. During the brewing process, 2-degrees Below is pushed into a nearly freezing state, which clarifies its structure, it says. The counterpart to 2-degrees Below is Frambozen, which is made with Pacific Northwest raspberries. Frambozen is derived from the Flemish word for raspberries and inspired by the Framboise beers of Belgium where the use of raspberries in beer outdates the use of traditional hops, it says. The winter beers are available in most markets where New Belgium is sold in six-packs for $8.99 through January.
