Lightweight bottle
O-I launched a new North American wine bottle, which the company says weighs 11.6 ounces – about 27 percent lighter than similar bottles. The company also released a 13-ounce 750 ml. claret bottle for the East Coast as part of the company’s Lean+Green initiative to create bottles that are both strong and light. The line comes in several colors, including champagne green, flint, emerald green and dead leaf green. Using the company’s lightweight bottles could result in saving 89 tons of carbon dioxide, the company says.

Shrink wrapper
Polypack introduced its Atlantis shrink wrapper, which protects critical components of the machine from liquid intrusion during production line washdowns. The machine features a waterproof front end, an enclosed pusher assembly, electronics and wiring systems sealed from liquid intrusion. The machine is constructed from stainless steel, which extends its lifespan and washdown capabilities, the company says.

Electric lift truck
Combilift introduced its COMBI-CB line of electric counter-balanced lift trucks, which can lift up to 6,000 pounds. The electric lift truck uses 48 volt AC technology. It features multi-direction operation on a two-wheel drive machine with integrated side-shift and the option of an open or full cab. The lift truck also includes options for a cabin heater, hydraulic fork positioner and detachable four-fork spreader bar.

Conveyor belts
Gough Econ Inc. offers several conveyor belt designs and styles, including flat and flighted belts with inclines up to 90 degrees. Among the company’s customized conveyor belts are flat slider-bed, incline, cleated and troughed belts. Conveyors are constructed in mild steel or stainless steel and can include a geared motor drive and molded or bolt-on flights. Belting can be customized per the customer’s requirements, the company says.

Air compressor
Quincy Compressor released its QGV family of variable speed drive air compressors with models ranging from 20 to 200 horsepower. The compressor can operate as a base-load machine or as a trim machine, supplying only the air required by the system to maintain the target pressure. Quincy’s QGV line of compressors also includes full-color touch screen controls, integrated networking features for automatic sequencing with applicable models and sound levels as low as 68 decibels, the company says.

Copolyester water bottles
Eastman Chemical Co. and Greif Packaging introduced water bottles made from Eastman Tritan copolyester, which does not include bisphenol A, for the home/office delivery market. The bottles are available in 3- and 5-gallon round and handled sizes. The Eastman Tritan copolyester allows the bottles to be washed at high-temperatures while resisting damage from cleansers and detergents, the company says.

Gap gages
Brennan Industries Inc. introduced a line of Gap Gages designed to ensure instrumentation tube fittings are sufficiently pulled up. The Gap Gage is inserted between the fitting nut and the body hex. If the fitting will not fit in at any point of the gap, no additional tightening is necessary, the company says. Ideal for tightening fittings in tight locations and in systems, the Gap Gages should only be used in initial make-up situations, not in remake assemblies, the company says. The gages are made from carbon steel and are available in sizes ranging from 5/8 inch to 2 inches.

Bioluminescent light
Progressive Edge has released its Nature’s Flash Lite product, which uses naturally occurring crystals from algae and seaweed to illuminate points of sale. With a small electrical impulse, the company says logos, photos and graphic artwork light up and flash. When the power is turned off, the images and messages remain beneath the transparent layer of crystals, the company says. A 2-feet by 3-feet sign uses less than $5 per year in electricity, the company says.

Injection-molded pallets
Monoflo International Inc. released its line of high-pressure, straight injection-molded pallets in North America. The company has introduced its RP (Rackable Pallets) and NP (Nestable Pallets) series of high-pressure injection-molded pallet tools. Monoflo released the Cramer Heavy-Duty Rackable RP4840 pallet, a closed pallet designed to carry up to 2,750 pounds. The NP line is designed specifically for grocery distribution, food service, convenience store distribution, export and general manufacturing, the company says. Both lines are 100 percent recyclable and are made from polyethylene or polypropylene.

Conveyor pusher
Hytrol Conveyor Co. Inc. released its Extenda Pusher, a conveyor accessory that extends and pushes products along a conveyor. The Extenda Pusher is designed to save space compared to other pushers, the company says, and contains cylinders that are stabilized by lightweight tandem aluminum guides. Proximity sensors for both extend and return signals allow the user to adjust the machine’s stroke length. It also features an emergency stop that immediately empties air pressure in the pusher. The unit is available in four stroke lengths and can mount to systems with conveyor widths of 18, 24, 30 and 36 inches.

Label printer applicator
ID Technology released its model 450W high-speed wipe-on Label Printer Applicator, which the company says can apply labels 30 to 40 percent faster than standard tamp style applicators. Fans create a vacuum to hold the label in place, and, as the product passes the applicator, the label is applied and wiped down by a follow-along roller. The equipment features a stainless steel cabinet base, where major modules can be swapped, and a color touchscreen operator interface. Users can change labels from 3-inches-by-4-inches to 6-inches-by-13-inches without using tools, the company says.

Filter cartridge
Argonide Corp. developed a pleated filter cartridge engineered to address bio-contaminant issues in ultrapure water applications, the company says. The NanoCeram-DP has two pleated layers of filter media that can filter bacteria, viruses and endotoxins efficiently, the company says. Non-woven filter media matrix layers infused with nanoalumina fibers line the filter cartridges to create an electropositively charged depth filter. The extra bed-depth provided by two layers of filter media in the NanoCeram-DP help the product filter more efficiently. Cartridges will fit into most commercially available filter housings, the company says.

Clear object sensor
Tri-Tronics Co. Inc. released its Smarteye Retrosmart clear object sensor, which can detect clear, translucent and shiny objects that could be jamming a conveyor line from 6 inches to 8 feet away. The sensor responds to a pulse-modulated light source, making it immune to ambient light. It features push button control and rugged construction, which is made from chemical resistant, waterproof polycarbonate.

Portable Bar Cart
Unique Vending Carts released a portable bar cart to serve alcohol beverages at different functions, including sports facilities, concert venues, fairs and product sampling functions. The cart is made of fiberglass, stainless steel and aluminum and features a polyurethane insulated ice compartment and valve dispensing system that holds up to 12 bottles. Weighing about 150 pounds, the canopy-equipped cart is easy to maneuver, the company says.

Connections solutions
Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics introduced its critical connections solutions for food and beverage applications. The connections combine the Gladiator line of hoses with ReSeal fittings for dairy processes. For beverage dispensing, the connections solutions use Tygon tubing, which help minimize bacterial growth and keep a sanitary fluid path open, protecting flavor consistency, the company says.

Mobile workstation
Newcastle Systems released its NB series of mobile powered workstations for warehouses, distribution centers, factories, laboratories and retail stores. The line of carts uses an on-board battery to power up to four devices for eight to ten hours, the company says. Maneuverable on 5-inch casters, the carts can carry desktop or laptop computers, printers, scales, barcode scanners and other electronic equipment on adjustable shelves that hold up to 75 pounds. Each model in the series, which is 42-inches tall and has a footprint of 24-inches by 26-inches, includes a slotted mast to adjust each shelf to a comfortable height, the company says.

Diesel-powered trucks
Peterbilt Motors Co., Denton, Texas, is distributing the Cummins ISX11.9 diesel engine in its line of vocational and conventional trucks. The Cummins diesel engine combines strong pulling power with fuel economy stemming from its rail fuel system and electrically actuated VGT Turbocharger. It can achieve 310 to 425 horsepower and 1,650 pounds/foot of torque, the company says. Models 320, 365, 367, 384, 386 and 388 can accommodate the engine.

Desktop printers
Sato introduced its new line of compact, multi-purpose desktop printers that the company says are ideal for applications in the retail, transportation and logistics and manufacturing industries. The printers can handle low to mid-range volume label or wristband printing applications through its direct thermal and thermal transfer versions with emulation. The machine prints at 203 dots per inch and 305 print resolutions. It also includes on-board linear and two dimensional barcode symbologies.

Air curtains
TMI LLC released a line of air curtains that allow companies to create an aerodynamic barrier to prevent air, insects, dirt, dust and fumes from entering the workplace. Made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel, the Save-T Air curtain keeps outside air out and conditioned air inside, resulting in greater energy efficiency. An air compression chamber collects air as it leaves the blowers and compresses it into a stream to cover the door opening. The curtains can be mounted overhead horizontally, recessed into the ceiling or vertically at the door’s side, the company says, for doors ranging in width from 30 inches to 30 feet and height up to 22 feet. TMI also can provide optional internal heating components for colder environments.

Moderate-duty lift trucks
Yale Materials Handling Corp. launched its line of internal combustion lift trucks equipped with GC050LX cushion tires and GP050LX pneumatic tires. The trucks can lift up to 5,000 pounds and use 12 percent less fuel than competitors average, the company says. Made for moderate-duty working conditions, the lift truck line is optimized with better ergonomics designed for operator comfort. With a Powershift transmission, the trucks have an optional integral side shifter, the company says.

Analytical balances
Denver Instrument released its New Pinnacle series of balances, which includes a menu-driven operation, comprehensive standard serial interfacing and back-lit digital display. The balances have capacities from 110 grams to 310 grams and include a 9.5-inch high weighing chamber. The company offers a Mini-Draft Shield balance with a 6.1-inch tall weighing chamber as well. All balances have automatic calibration, moisture weighing, tare weights, density determination, multiple weigh modes and parts counting, among other features, the company says.

Floor level palletizer
Columbia Machine Inc. developed a new palletizer, the FL2000 Floor Level Palletizer. The machine features interlocked doors with clear plastic or optional mesh panels and a variable frequency drive-controlled electric row pusher drive. Category three rated electrical components now come standard on the machine, the company says. Multiple layout possibilities, such as front, rear or side infeeds, can be achieved with the machine.

Karlville offers its Inspect-S and Inspect-N lines of inspection equipment for primary and secondary print applications. The Inspect-S line can inspect wide webs designed for flexible packaging applications before lamination, the company says. Ideal for large operations, the Inspect-S line features an AC Vector Drive driving system and automatic tension control. The Inspect-N line is designed for narrow web inspection, the company and makes returning rolls, rewinding rolls and fixing edge problems easy, the company says.
