Quaternary pump
A new quaternary pump by Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. dramatically improves separation for complex mixtures during ultra-high pressure liquid chromatography analysis, the company says. With Force Feedback Control to eliminate pulse dampening, the Accela 1250 improves flow accuracy and gradient precision, it says. The pump has flow rates up to 2 ml. per minute.

Floor level palletizer
Columbia Machine Inc. developed a new palletizer, the FL2000 Floor Level Palletizer. The machine features interlocked doors with clear plastic or optional mesh panels and a variable frequency drive-controlled electric row pusher drive. Category three rated electrical components now come standard on the machine, the company says. Multiple layout possibilities, such as front, rear or side infeeds, can be achieved with the machine.

Desktop printers
Sato introduced its new line of compact, multi-purpose desktop printers that the company says are ideal for applications in the retail, transportation, logistics and manufacturing industries. The printers can handle low- to mid-range volume label or wristband printing applications through its direct thermal and thermal transfer versions with emulation. The machine prints at 203 dots per inch and 305 print resolutions. It also includes on-board linear and two dimensional barcode symbologies.

Portable bar cart
Unique Vending Carts released a portable bar cart to serve alcohol beverages at different functions, including sports facilities, concert venues, fairs and product sampling functions. The cart is made of fiberglass, stainless steel and aluminum and features a polyurethane insulated ice compartment and valve dispensing system that holds up to 12 bottles. Weighing about 150 pounds, the canopy-equipped cart is easy to maneuver, the company says.

Lift and reach trucks
A stand-up end control lift truck and a reach truck are among the first Jungheinrich AG brand products manufactured by Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift America Inc. (MCFA) to hit the market. The two companies signed an agreement that began in January for Jungheinrich to design products on the MCFA campus in Houston and for the products to be distributed in the United States, Canada and Mexico by MCFA. The stand-up end control lift truck can lift 3,000 to 5,500 pounds. The reach truck can lift 2,500 to 4,500 pounds and features a control handle with simultaneous drive, lift, lower and auxiliary hydraulic functions.

Case coding solutions
Markem-Imaje has added the 5800 HighTouch Dry Hot Melt Printer and the 5600 Liquid Inkjet Printer to its direct case coding 5000 series product line. The 5800 uses hot melt technology for an instant dry, solvent-free ink that will not bleed or fade throughout the life of the case, the company says. The 5600 uses liquid piezo technology with its glycol-ether based quick-drying ink, the company says. Both printers are smaller than previous designs and feature icon-based user interfaces.

iPhone custom label quote
Lightning Labels LLC released iLabel, an iPhone application that generates a free custom label printing quote in less than a minute. The company developed the application because of the volume of activity it was receiving on its Web site from iPhone users, it says. Completing the order for a label can now be done in the same amount of time it once took to get a quote, the company says. The application can be downloaded on iTunes software.

Barcode scanner
Motorola Enterprise Mobility Solutions released its line of industrial-grade barcode scanning products. The scanner is designed to streamline inventory management and can be used in environments such as warehouses, transportation and logistics and retail backrooms, the company says. Suppliers can meet government mandates for product quality control and tracking with the company’s new scanner, it says.

Sound-absorbing curtain walls
Zoneworks has released its SZ Acoustic Curtain Walls, a product the company says can reduce noise levels in buildings by 22 to 25 decibels. The walls, which are flexible and feature layers of sound-absorbing material, can be custom fitted for nearly any space in factories, machine shops, industrial operations, classrooms, meeting rooms and call centers, the company says. As a stationary wall or a unit that slides open and closed, the SZ Acoustic Curtain Walls can make space about four times quieter, the company says.

Blow-molding system
Krones AG has developed a system to downsize the changeover time for molds in the Contiform. The MouldXpress Advanced is semi-automatic and shortens change-over time to less than one minute per blow-molding station, the company says. Mold sets are kept in a changing trolley, and the system features designated compartments for the molds to reduce the risk of installation errors. The system can be used in the S16 and S28 series of the Contiform blow-molding machines. Krones also is offering complete factory facility planning for the beverage industry, a segment the company says is growing significantly as companies downsize in-house engineering capacities. The company says it can provide state-of-the-art technology with the best material flows, a comprehensive information technology network and matched utilities.

Instrumentation fittings
Brennan Industries Inc. is offering single-ferrule instrumentation fittings ranging in size from 1/16 to 2 inches in brass and stainless steel. The fittings have fewer pieces involved, making it ideal for high vibration or pulsation applications and less likely to install incorrectly, the company says. Previously the company offered only double-ferrule instrumentation fittings.

Refrigerators and freezers
Master-Bilt released its redesigned Fusion line of bottom mount solid door refrigerators and freezers, which will be on display at the National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago in May. The line has three models of freezers and three models of refrigerators with capacities of 23, 49 and 72 cubic feet. Made of stainless and galvanized steel, the units have curved corners to reduce injuries in slipping accidents, it says. It also features an electronic control that allows the user to monitor and adjust temperatures and digitally displays the internal temperature.

Perimeter seal
Serco has developed the Energy Guard, which provides a perimeter seal along the sides and rear hinge of a dock leveler to keep dirt and debris out and energy inside the building. The product is designed to seal the gaps between dock levelers and concrete pit walls up to 9 inches above the dock level, the company says. Energy Guard comes factory installed on new Serco equipment and can be retrofitted to existing equipment, the company says.

Impact-flexible doors
Aleco’s AIS-175 door, which is made with rubber I-beams bonded to flexible vinyl facings to ensure flexibility at impact, is now available. The door can fit in spaces up to 10 feet wide and 10 feet high and features 46 mm. of foam insulation, fabric-reinforced vinyl facings and sealed bearing V-cam hinges. Aleco says the AIS-175 is ideal for areas with frequent motor traffic, but it can also accommodate carts and walking traffic.

Emerson Industrial Automation’s Power Transmission Solutions introduced its consolidated gearing catalog. The catalog provides a place for customers to order traditional gearing products across all application needs, the company says. Automation software
Omron Electronics LLC released its CX-One Lite Version 4.0 comprehensive automation software package, which integrates Micro PLC programming with support software to set up networks, operator interfaces, inverters and temperature controllers. Each CX-One license supports all IEC 61131-3 programming languages, the company says. The program simplifies setting up routing tables by making it possible to download the tables to all PLCs on the network.

Speech-enabled data collection
LXE Inc. and Genesta have released the SyVox Client on LXE’s HX3 voice-directed wearable computer. The pairing will feature support for wireless and wired barcode scanners, imagers and headsets and multi-modal capabilities to implement the right data collection technology for each task in a process, the companies say. The HX3 has a four pin connector that they say will improve recognition and reduce noise.

Shrinkwrap machine
Douglas Machine Inc. has added an auto-adjust feature to its Douglas Contour shrinkwrap machines. The feature eliminates most hand adjustments for changeovers, the company says, and replaces them with electronic motion controls. An error message will appear on the machine to alert the operator to parts that have not been removed, preventing damage, the company says. In addition, changeover time will be reduced to less than 15 minutes.

Counterbalanced lift truck
The Raymond Corp. has introduced a new three-wheel, sit-down counterbalanced truck that the company says will increase productivity and enhance energy efficiency. The new model 4450 can handle up to 4,000 pounds and has a short head length to reduce turn radius and to make it easier to stack pallets or transport products in small spaces. The truck also features a four-cylinder mast that increases visibility for the driver.

Palletizer
A-B-C Packaging Machine Corp. released its model 72AE floor level palletizer, which the company says is designed with an extended accumulation table to allow continuous layer forming. As a result, the machine increases volume by up to 35 units per minute, the company says. The machine can palletize cases, trays, bags or totes and changeover is automated by choosing the next product configuration on a touch screen panel.

Clear grease gun
Lubrication Engineers Inc. revamped the Web site dedicated to its Clear Grease Gun product line, making it capable of e-commerce for the first time. The Web site, cleargreaseguns.com, provides information about the company’s Clear Grease Guns and Clear Tubes and allows customers to purchase the products for shipment anywhere in the United States. Customers can search by keyword or part number and compare up to five products at once, the company says.

Configuration software
Rockwell Automation upgraded its RSLogix 5000 design and configuration software with more than 30 new capabilities, including integrated motion on Ethernet/IP connection and high integrity add-on instructions. The new version of the software will give machine builders the benefit of an integrated motion solution to configure, program, commission and maintain high-performance drives, smart actuators and other devices on a single network, the company says. By not using a dedicated motion network, manufacturers can lower system costs as well, the company says.

PET container
Amcor Rigid Plastics launched a 12-ounce ring neck PET bottle to replace glass bottles for premium food and beverage brands. The bottle can be used for ready-to-drink teas and juices, the company says, and is light weight at 29 grams and break resistant compared to glass containers. Amcor used its PowerFlex technology to manufacture the bottle, it says, making it easier to label the bottle because it does not have sidewall vacuum panels. The bottle is available in two varities: one with three horizontal ribs for hot-fill applications and another with smooth walls for ambient-temperature products.

Stainless steel air cleaner
Peterbilt Motor Co. has released a stainless steel, cowl-mounted air cleaner and cap that the company says will improve performance and increase durability and serviceability. The filter uses nanotechnology to trap submicron contaminants and has a seal designed to reduce contamination and make inspections and servicing easier. The air cleaner can be used on Peterbilt Models 389, 388 and 367 in the 13- and 15-inch diameters for single or dual side installations.

Steamer shrink tunnel
Karlville Development introduced the dual-chamber Steamer shrink tunnel with an integrated, low-volume steam boiler. The machine’s design lets the user adjust internal pipes to allow the steam to shrink areas on the container with the highest shrink requirements. It is designed to maximize temperature with minimal power, the company says. The steamer can process up to 150 containers per minute, depending on the container’s shape, size and sleeve material, it says.

X-Ray and metal detector
Eriez has released a combination E-Z Tec Dual-Beam Multi-Zone X-Ray and Metal Detector System that the company says will reject almost any foreign object for packaged or bulk-flow applications. The X-Ray machine will detect ferrous, nonferrous, stainless steel and non-metallics, while the metal detector will detect aluminum. The machine will pinpoint single products with a foreign object instead of rejecting an entire row of products, the company says.

High-speed labelers
Label-Aire has introduced three new labelers: the 3111-NV Air-Blow Labeler, the 3114-NV Tamp-Blow Labeler and the 3115-NV Wipe-On Labeler. All three labelers are designed to operate at high speeds and include velocity compensation to more accurately place labels, the company says. The labelers’ displays are digital and can be configured to display in one of five languages and standard or metric units.
