The Bardstown Bourbon Co., Bardstown, Ky., has launched a complete virtual 360 tour of its entire grounds and facilities online and free to the public. Created in response to state-mandated closures due to COVID-19, this enchanting, interactive and educational experience allows viewers to visually adventure throughout the groundbreaking facilities.
Temperature and humidity conditions have profound effects on beverages such as beer, bourbon and wine; yet, maintaining ideal conditions in large production facilities, distribution centers and cellars can be costly. Austin, Texas-based Deep Eddy Vodka, a division of Heaven Hill Brands, announced its expansion with the purchase of a 194,000-square-foot facility located just outside of the Austin city limits in Buda, Texas.
St. Louis-based Luxco announced the company has finalized plans to build a distillery in Nelson County, Ky. Luxco has chosen to build the distillery on a 70-acre site off state highway KY-245 in the heart of Bardstown and Bourbon Capital of the World, it says.

Sazerac becomes first U.S. spirits producer to use AS/RS technology

Sazerac Co., Metairie, La., is scheduled to install automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS) and Savanna.Net warehouse management system (WMS) software, provided by York, Pa.-based Westfalia Technologies Inc., in two of its Kentucky distilleries: Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort and The Glenmore Distillery in Owensboro. The Sazerac Co. is the first U.S. spirits producer to use AS/RS technology, according to Westfalia.
The West Australian Distilling Co. launched South Sea Rum, which is a blonde agricole-style rum crafted with free-run juice from the first pressing of hand-selected Queensland sugar cane crops.
To a distiller, beer is essentially undistilled whiskey, but in the world of craft distilling, craft beer is much more than that — it might even reveal the future for craft distilleries in the United States.
